"Something went wrong" during conversion
This means the file reached the converter but couldn't be rebuilt as a Word document. The usual culprits are a corrupted PDF, a file that was renamed to .pdf without actually being a PDF (uploads are checked by content, not just extension), or a connection drop mid-upload. Re-save or re-download the original PDF and try once more. Failed conversions never use up your free quota, so retrying costs nothing.
File won't upload at all
Only genuine PDF files are accepted. Free accounts are limited to 25 MB per file — larger files are rejected before conversion starts, and a Pro account raises that ceiling. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked by their owner first; the service cannot open encrypted files, even briefly. Scanned, image-only PDFs are fine — they go through built-in OCR automatically.
Asked to log in before converting
Conversion requires a free account, because free-vs-Pro limits are enforced on the server against your account — the page never decides. If you were already logged in and get sent to the login page, your session simply expired: log in again and retry. A password reset is available from the forgot-password page.
"Free conversion limit reached"
Free accounts convert within a rolling 24-hour quota. When it runs out, the converter tells you so instead of failing silently — wait for the quota to reset, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited conversions. Only successful conversions count against the quota, so earlier failures didn't cause this.
Downloaded file won't open
Re-download the file first — interrupted downloads are the most common cause of a .docx that won't open. Then open it in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, or Google Docs. If a fresh conversion still produces a broken file, the source PDF itself is likely damaged; test it in a PDF reader before converting again.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my PDF to Word conversion fail?
The most common causes are a corrupted PDF, a file renamed to .pdf that isn't a real PDF, or a connection interruption during upload. Re-save or re-download the PDF and retry — failed conversions never consume free quota.
What does the free conversion limit mean?
Free accounts convert within a rolling 24-hour quota. When it is reached, wait for the reset or upgrade to Pro. Only successful conversions count.
Why am I asked to log in before converting?
Conversion needs a free account so limits can be enforced securely per account. An expired session just needs a fresh login.
Why won't my file upload?
Only genuine PDFs are accepted (checked by content), free files are capped at 25 MB, and locked PDFs must be unlocked first.
My downloaded Word file won't open. What now?
Re-download it, open it in Word, LibreOffice, or Google Docs, and if it still fails, check whether the source PDF itself is damaged.
