Overview
PDFtoWord ("we", "us", or "our") provides an online tool that converts PDF files into editable Word documents. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website and converter, you agree to the practices described here.
Data we collect
We aim to collect only what's needed to run the service and improve it.
- Account information — if you create an account or subscribe to Pro, we collect your email address and basic billing details handled by our payment processor.
- Files you upload — the PDF you convert, and the resulting Word document, are processed as described in "Your files" below.
- Usage data — pages visited, browser type, device type, and general interaction data, collected automatically to help us understand how the tool is used.
- Technical data — IP address and similar identifiers, used for security, fraud prevention, and rate limiting on free conversions.
Your files
The PDF you upload is transmitted over an encrypted connection and processed solely to produce your Word document. We do not review, read, or use the content of your files for any purpose other than performing the conversion you requested.
Uploaded files and converted output are not made publicly accessible, and temporary copies are automatically deleted from our servers shortly after processing completes or after a short expiry window, whichever comes first.
How we use data
We use the information above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the conversion service
- Process payments and manage Pro subscriptions
- Monitor and improve performance and reliability
- Enforce daily conversion limits on free accounts
- Detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or security issues
- Communicate with you about your account or changes to our service
Cookies
We use a limited number of cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your theme preference, and understand aggregate usage of the site. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect some features of the site.
Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with:
- Service providers who help us host the site, process payments, or deliver the conversion infrastructure, under confidentiality obligations
- Legal authorities when required to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or ensure user safety
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the same privacy commitments
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all traffic and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using commercially reasonable measures.
Data retention
Uploaded and converted files are retained only briefly, long enough to complete the conversion and allow you to download the result, and are then automatically deleted. Account information is retained for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
