Convert a scanned PDF to Word with OCR

Most converters fail on scanned documents because there's no real text to extract — just a picture of a page. This one reads the image and rebuilds it as editable text, in English, French, or Arabic.

Know your file

Is your PDF actually scanned?

Digital PDF

Made from Word, Google Docs, or a website. You can select and copy the text directly. No OCR needed — the standard converter handles it.

Scanned PDF

Made from a scanner, printer app, or phone camera. Every page is really a photo — trying to select text does nothing. This is what OCR is for.

Not sure which one you have? Just upload it — the converter checks automatically and switches to OCR only when it's needed.

The process

What happens after you upload

  1. 01

    Upload your scan

Drag in a scanned PDF, or a PDF built from photos of a document.

  2. 02

    OCR reads every page

Each page is checked for real text. Pages without any are rendered as images and read with OCR, in English, French, or Arabic.

  3. 03

    Download an editable .docx

The recognized text is written into a standard Word file you can open, search, and edit right away.

Tips for better OCR accuracy

  • Scan at 300 DPI or higher — blurry or low-resolution photos produce more reading errors.
  • Keep the page straight; heavily tilted scans confuse word order.
  • Even, flat lighting works better than a phone photo with shadows or glare.
  • Handwriting isn't reliably supported — OCR here is built for printed text.
